Darjeeling and Singalila National Park Tour Overview

Destination :- Sandakphu - Phalut - Dhotrey - Tonglu - Tumling - Gairibas - Jaubari - Kalakpokhri - Sabarkum - Aahl - Gorkhey - Rammam -Srikhola

The northern part of West Bengal is covered by the Himalayas, which provide great mountaineering and adventure sports possibilities. Those who are beginners or have moderately less experience in trekking may go on the Sandakphu Phalut trek as it is pretty easy. With this Sandakphu Phalut trek, you can cross the border and enter Nepal and return back to India while following the twisting trail. During most of your trip, your eyes will feast at scenes of sky-touching mountains covered with snow.

Darjeeling and Singalila National Park Tour Itinerary

Day 1:

NJP Railway Station/IXB Airport – Dhotrey

Sandakphu Phalut Trek or Singalila National Park Trek

Pick up from NJP Railway Station/IXB Airport, drop to Dhotrey (115 kms). Check into stay. After refreshment free for village walk, Dhotrey a small forest model village and alternative with poppular trek route to Singalila Trek. Besides Dhotrey is a paradise for birding in the surrounding village with around 99 species of unique himalayan birds. Back to stay. Dinner and Overnight at Dhotrey (8,500 ft.).

Day 2:

Trek to Tumling via Tonglu

After breakfast trek to Tumling via Tonglu (10,400 ft). This is one of the best path with beauty of Pine, Rhodedendran forest. Reach at within 1.5hrs-2hrs (06 kms). Tonglu is a hilltop from where you can have an excellent 360-degree view of surrounding mountains of Singalila range and beyond. Now proceed upto Tumling (02 kms). Check into stay. Dinner and overnight at Tumling (9,600 ft.).

Day 3:

Trek to Kalapokhri via Gairibas and Jaubari

Wake up early in the morning for a rare and beautiful view of the mountains around. After breakfast trek to Kalapokhri via Gairibas. The first phase of today’s trek takes you downhill to Gairibans within 1.5hrs-2hrs (07 kms) through Nepal border town of Jaubari. After refreshment continue to trek uphill to reach Kalpokhari within 2hrs-2.5hrs (06 kms). Check into stay. Dinner and Overnight at Kalapokhri (10,400 ft.).

Day 4:

Trek to Sandakphu via Bikheybhanjyang

After breakfast trek to Sandakphu. Trek to Bikebhanjan (03 kms) within 1hr-1.5hrs, is through a relatively less steep trail. Trek from Bikhebhanjang to Sandakphu (04 kms) within 1.5hrs-2hrs. Since you are already at an altitude above 10,000 feet, you may find some breathlessness. Reaching Sandakphu at 11,929 feet would reward you enough though. Sandakphu commands one of the most spectacular views of the mountain ranges of Kanchenjunga and Everest. The mountain slopes are covered with rhododendrons and silver fir trees. Check into stay. Dinner and Overnight at Sandakphu (11,929 ft.).

Day 5:

Trek to Phalut/Molley

Wake up early in the morning for a rare and beautiful view of the snow caped Worlds mountains around, the peak is a beautiful point where one can see four of the world's five highest peaks - Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu and Lhotse - in a perpetual snow-clad arc. After breakfast trek to Phalut (21 kms/07hrs-08hrs) via Aahl View Point and Sabarkum. Sandakphu to Phalut is is one of the most spectacular. The Silver fir and Rhododendran forests comprise the most beautiful sight. Phalut (11,811 ft.) is one of the loftiest peaks in the Singalila Range. Check into Trekkers Hut/Tent (or Molley). Dinner and Overnight at stay.

Day 6:

Trek to Gorkhey

After breakfast proceed upto Gorkhey (15kms/05hrs-06hrs). From Phalut the trails descends through the virgin forest of Chestnut, Pines,hemlock etc. Reach at Gorkhey, can enjoy bath at Gorkeykhola. Check into hotel. Diiner and Overnight at Gorkhey (7,550 ft.).

Day 7:

Trek to Srikhola via Rammam

After breakfast trek to Srikhola (21 kms/06hrs-07hrs) via Rammam (8,400 ft.). Srikhola ia another breathtaking destination situated on the foothills of Singalila National Park. Enjoy the river and visit the hanging wooden bridge. Check into stay. Dinner and Overnight at Srikhola (6,800 ft.).

Day 8:

Srikhola - NJP Railway Station/IXB Airport

After breakfast drop to NJP Railway Station/IXB Airport (155 kms) by 01 Reserved Sumo/Bolero/Similar via Sukhiapokhri and Mirik. En route see Simana View Point, Gopal Dhara Tea Eatate and Soumendu Lake.
